Welcome back to the Edlandria Blog! In our last post, we highlighted all the things that make our apartment community so awesome. This time we are sharing some helpful moving tips to make moving into your brand new Alexandria, Virginia apartment here at the Edlandria a little less stressful.
Moving can be a super overwhelming and stressful endeavor. Make it a little less stressful by putting some of these tips into practice.
Groceries
Minimize the amount of groceries you will need to move or toss by making your last grocery trip two weeks before your move. Trying to move a bunch of perishable foods will only add to the stress and make your move more complicated. Try to use up as much food as possible before moving.
Update Your Address
At least two weeks prior to moving be sure to update your address. Give your local post-office your new address to forward any mail that may have been sent to your old address. Update your banking information, bills, magazine subscriptions, and give your friends and family your new address.
Donate Unwanted Items
Go through your possessions before you move and gather together clothings, toys, and other items that you no longer want. Give these items away to friends or family or donate them to a local charity organization like The Salvation Army or Goodwill.
Label Boxes
Put labels or write a list of the contents on the side of each box. This might seem tedious, but it will be helpful later when you are unpacking and looking for specific items. This will also make things easier if you are unpacking one room at a time.
Number Your Boxes
Numbering your boxes will help to ensure that you don’t lose anything. Remember the total number you have and keep a checklist as you are unpacking to make sure you didn’t forget or lose any boxes.
